Muharram: Authorities vow to ensure water, power supply  

Officers must ensure that people have ample water in mosques and imambargahs

SUKKUR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Waheed Asghar Bhatti on Tuesday directed the authorities of the taluka municipal administrations to ensure swift supply of water during Muharram.

The DC further directed that during electricity breakdowns, generators must be used to ensure provision of water as per schedule to all areas. "Officers must ensure that people have ample water in mosques and imambargahs," he said.

Meanwhile, as part of its plan to facilitate majalis and processions, the Sukkur Electric Power Supply Company (Sepco) has decided that there will be no load-shedding at major majalis locations. An official said on Tuesday that during the holy month, Sepco teams will remain on standby round-the-clock for public convenience.  Moreover, Mayor Arslan Sheikh has said that ulema of all schools of thought must play an active role for promotion of religious harmony, brotherhood and tolerance in society.
