Deadly blast: Two die as ‘scrapped bomb’ explodes

LAHORE: Two workers at a metal scrap warehouse died when a bomb allegedly dumped in the yard went off in Lahore on Monday.

Badami Bagh police said Liaquat, 34, and Sagheer Khan, 40, were cutting metal with a gas laser in the Misri Shah scrap market when the explosion occurred. Both the men were critically injured and taken to Mayo Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.

The Badami Bagh SHO, however, claimed the blast happened when a cylinder exploded as the labourers were busy cutting metal with gas lasers.

The blast created panic in the area as people believed some terrorists had struck. A large number of people rushed to the site and called in rescue teams and police. Extra contingents of police reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
