HARIPUR: A teenaged girl attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance, police and family sources said on Sunday. Lala Khan, a resident of Tareenabad village, told the police that his 16-year-old daughter, Asia Bibi*, was busy with her cell phone when her mother scolded her for not sharing the burden of household chores. The short-tempered Asia got infuriated and stormed off to her room. There she consumed some insecticide and fell unconscious, the police quoted the complainant. Discovering her in a semi-conscious state, her family rushed her to the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital where doctors pumped her stomach. But when her condition started worsening, they referred her to Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad. At the ATH, she was put on a ventilator but doctors still described her condition as critical.
