The minister was addressing the concluding session and certificate distribution ceremony of a two-day training of Public Relations Officers of Punjab Police at the Information Service Academy organised by Pakistan Peace Collective, a project supervised by Ministry of information on Saturday.
The minister said the sacrifices made by policemen should be acknowledged as they had protected several lives by taking timely action and foiling the evil designs of the country’s enemies. He added that the perception of police in the minds of citizens must have changed as this department had a history of dedication and commitment for the country.
He said the policemen were boldly fulfilling the responsibility with full dedication and zeal and several of them had lost their lives but did not allow terrorists to play with the lives of innocent citizens.
However, the police department could not receive the appropriate response and acknowledgement from the citizens despite facing several challenges, which Rashid termed, was unfair.
Rashid said that young officers, who had been appointed to manage the media, should focus on image building of the police department. He added that these officers were the actual face of the police department.
Later, the minister also distributed course certificates among 51 Public Relation Officers of the Police of Punjab‘s various districts.
