Headless institutions: SC gives govt 5 weeks to appoint hospital admins

The court was informed that the eight health institutions of the federal capital are without administrators

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Friday directed the federal government to finalise recruitment rules and to appoint administrators of Islamabad-based hospital within five weeks.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, gave the directive while hearing the suo moto case of corruption in purchasing medicines and equipment at Polyclinic Hospital, Islamabad.

The court was informed that the eight health institutions of the federal capital are without administrators. However, senior surgeons at these hospitals had been handed additional administrative duties of these institutions in the absence of full-time administrators.
