LAHORE: The opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly has submitted a condemnation resolution against unprovoked firing by India along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

The resolution submitted by Mehmoodur Rasheed on Thursday in the Punjab Assembly secretariat states India’s aggression aims at distracting attention from its atrocities in Indian-held Kashmir.

“The Indian government has exposed itself through the recent incident,” it says, adding such underhand tactics will not weaken the freedom struggle in the occupied valley.

The resolution calls on the international community and the United Nations to take immediate notice of the Indian aggression.

Rasheed has demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif immediately call a joint session of the parliament and take the nation into confidence over the emerging situation in the wake of Indian aggression.

The PM, the resolution reads, should inform the nation of his policies on India, especially amid the ongoing crisis between the two countries.

Concern was also expressed over the silence of the government and its ministers to respond effectively to India’s aggressive behaviour. “This silence is raising several questions,” Rasheed stated.

The resolution also pays tributes to soldiers who have lost their lives in such incidents along the LoC while extending support to the armed forces.
