Why are so many Pakistanis saying that Mr Khan should be released immediately?
KARACHI: This is with reference to the reported detention of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan by Indian authorities in New Delhi. While we are all vociferously saying that the Americans need to respect Pakistan’s legal system and let the courts decide the fate of Raymond Davis, why are so many Pakistanis saying that Mr Khan should be released immediately? Surely, $124,000 is no small amount and the singer should have known that India’s laws require that carrying such a large amount of currency on one’s person is not permitted and that a person wishing to do so must first declare it to Indian customs.
