Exchange of fire: Suspects involved in murder of CTD official shot dead

Two suspects, who were allegedly involved in the murder of an official of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), were killed during a raid on Saturday.

Two CTD personnel, ASI Shabab Haider and Shahabuddin, were critically wounded after unidentified men attacked them on Jahangir Road on September 20. The deceased, Shabab, was a resident of Ancholi and was posted to CTD Civil Lines.

The case was registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the CTD and was being investigated. The officials investigating the case believed that local criminals of the area were behind the incident.

“My team was attacked when they raided the hideout [of suspects] on Saturday,” said CTD incharge Raja Omar Khattab, adding that both the suspects were killed when the law enforcers retaliated.

The suspects were identified as Sohail Baloch alias Shooter and Sarfaraz alias Kala. Two pistols were also found in their possession, while Khattab said that the pistol used in the CTD official’s killing was also seized from them.


Separate raids

Meanwhile, over a dozen suspects were arrested during separate targeted raids in the metropolis. The police apprehended at least 10 suspects during a raid in Natha Khan Goth.

Three suspects were arrested after an exchange of fire with the police in Surjani Town and two others suspects were arrested from Federal B Area.

Police officials said that one of the suspects was taken into custody in an injured condition and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi, for medical treatment. The police also recovered weapons, a motorcycle and stolen mobile phones from the possession of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Mauripur police arrested an alleged gangster, identified as Shahjahan alias Bhora, after an encounter. According to the police officials, that the suspected gangster was allegedly involved in several cases of crime.
