MPA Liaquat Ali Jatoi criticises PPP government

HYDERABAD: The nascent Grand Democratic Alliance, formed by the opposition parties in the Sindh Assembly excluding Muttahida Qaumi Movement, has begun to show signs of implosion.

Having recently remained inactive in its campaign against Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) alleged corruption, the alliance encouraging internal bickering within.

Former Sindh chief minister (CM) and leader of Awami Ittehad Party, MPA Liaquat Ali Jatoi, criticised the coalition's dormancy while speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday. "It's as if they have gone to sleep after drinking milk," he commented.

He said that the alliance, which is led by Pakistan Muslim League - Functional and includes Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz and many political former heavyweights of Sindh, has not been holding regular meetings.

However, Jatoi spared most of his criticism for the PPP and its provincial government. "Governor Rule should be imposed in Sindh to prevent it from further destruction," he demanded.

He accused Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for abetting corruption during his eight years of heading the provincial finance ministry. "Instead of drinking tea at some hotel in Sukkur, the CM should drink the untreated water that is supplied to ordinary people in Sindh."

Jatoi asked the National Accountability Bureau to seize records of the Sindh finance department of over last eight years and conduct a thorough investigation.
