First official visit: Sukkur not given its due share in development, says CM

Says he has submitted his reservations to federal govt over unjust load-shedding in Sindh

SUKKUR: During his maiden visit to the city on Saturday since taking charge as the chief minister, Murad Ali Shah said that Sukkur, which is the third largest city of the province, has been denied its due share in development since 2008.

Talking to the media, he said that he is trying to bring good governance in the province and for this all the government functionaries have to shoulder their responsibilities accordingly.

Murad claimed that an amount of Rs200 billion has been allocated this year for the Annual Development Programme, out of which Rs18 billion has been spent in two-and-a-half months, adding that before he took over, only Rs4 billion had been spent.

He claimed that when Sindh tried to generate its own electricity, the federal government went to the court. “I have already submitted my reservations to the federal government over unjust load-shedding in the province,” said the chief minister. He further said that the provincial government has been trying to maintain it since tragic incidents in Jacobabad and Shikarpur.

Speaking on the occasion, leader of the opposition in the national assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, who accompanied Murad, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have taken all the political forces into confidence before leaving for the United Nations, he said.
