Seven Pakistani universities among world's top 800 universities

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is the country’s highest-ranked institute

Seven Pakistani universities have been ranked among the world’s top 800 universities by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is the country’s highest-ranked institute, featured in the 601-800 band, followed by  National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and Quaid-i-Azam University.

Four more universities that have made it to the list in the band 801+ are University of Agriculture Faisalabad Pakistan, Bahauddin Zakariya University, University of Karachi and University of Lahore.

Earlier in September, Six Pakistani universities were featured on the 13th edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.

The University of Oxford has become the first British university to top the Times Higher Education's global league table, knocking the California Institute of Technology into second place.

Oxford topped the list because it improved across the four main indicators that influence the rankings - teaching, research, citations and international outlook, Times Higher Education said.

While Oxford, the University of Cambridge and London's Imperial College make the top 10 along with ETH Zurich, the list is dominated by US universities.

The Top ten universities on the list are as follows:

5. Massachusetts Institute of Technology

6. Harvard University

7. Princeton University

8. Imperial College London

9. ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich
