MiG-21 fighter jet overshot the runway by 200 metres while landing at Srinagar airport. All flight operations at the Srinagar airport have been delayed following the crash landing.
World's largest aircraft damaged in crash landing
According to airport sources, "The fighter jet made an emergency landing at the Srinagar airport after the pilot noticed a technical snag in the plane. The tyres of the jet were badly burnt due to the emergency landing but timely action saved the plane," reports Times of India.
Further, the fire tenders were rushed to the airport to ensure the aircraft did not catch fire.
Kabul to probe circumstances of MI-17 crash landing
The Srinagar airport handles 560 flights a week and operations have run smoothly over the week owing to Eid celebrations in the state. The airport is located at a 12 km distance from the city.
