Physical remand : Courts hands over WWB official to NAB

PESHAWAR: An accountability court handed over an official of the Workers Welfare Board to National Accountability Bureau on a 14-day physical remand. The official was involved in corruption and mismanagement of funds worth millions of rupees. The decision was taken by accountability court judge Muhammad Asim Imam. The judge ordered that the official should be presented before the court after the 14-day period has been completed. National Accountability Bureau said Alamgir Khan, a patwari, was involved in corrupt practices during the acquisition of 400 kanals of lands at Daag Ismail Khel, Nowshera for WWB. According to a handout issued on Thursday, Alamgir caused losses worth more than Rs148.6 million to the national exchequer. The suspect had been arrested on Thursday and was presented before an accountability court on Friday to obtain his physical custody.
