Another major player of the torrent industry called it a day and shut down voluntarily. Confirming the closing down of TorrentHound, the website’s founder sent an email to TorrentFreak with a simple message: “Finito”.

Later on, giving insight into why TorrentHound was shut down, the founder revealed that the falling revenue along with constant pressure from anti-piracy were the reasons behind the closure.

“It’s a combination of less traffic, less revenue and our bills piling up. Then add on constantly getting bugged by anti-piracy agents, just wasn’t worth the headache anymore,” he said.

A message on now defunct website directs visitors to remaining active torrent sites.

Torrent search engine Torrentz.eu is offline and no one knows why

With the sudden closure of TorrentHound, three of top 10 torrent sites including KickassTorrents and Torrentz have been shut down in the last three months. KicassTorrent was shut down in July after US Department of Justice arrested the owner of the website, while in early August Torrentz.eu decided to close down the services after almost 13 years of service.

TorrentHound, which was founded in 2007, had been around for nearly a decade and had millions of visitors per month. However, it was never been able to reach the status of a torrent giant such as The Pirate Bay, Torrentz, and KAT.
