Festive occasion: ‘Do not linger at court offices’

CJ addresses Eid Milan party

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has asked court employees not to stay at their offices unnecessarily.

“Come [to office] and leave on time. Spend enough time with your families so that you are able to perform your work efficiently.”

The chief justice said employees with a good reputation would remain part of the judiciary. “But there is no room here for corrupt workers.”

Addressing the LHC employees at an Eid Milan party on Thursday, the chief justice said employment in the judiciary was a matter of great honour.

“The benefits for court employees in the Punjab are far better than those at other departments,” he said. “It is the duty of LHC employees to maintain the reputation of their institution.” “All employees are important for efficient functioning of the courts – from gardeners to additional registrars. Pay scales do not matter too much. What matters most is integrity and dignity of workers.”

“If you devote your energy for welfare of this institution, it will be duty-bound to reciprocate,” he said.

The CJ said a summary of the financial matters of the provincial judiciary had been sent to a government committee. He said he was doing his best to improve the institution. “Positive changes can only come about if I have the cooperation of the court staff.”

Justice Shah said it was the responsibility of all workers to point out corruption in their midst and discourage those who brought a bad name to the institution.

“My office is always open for employees of the courts. If anyone wishes to share complaint, they are welcome to do so.”

He said CCTV cameras were being installed at all branches of the LHC due to security concerns.

Justice Shahid Hameed Dar, Registrar Syed Khurshid Anwar Rizvi and Inspection Team Member Sardar Tahir Sabir were also present.
