"Sattar complained of pain in his left shoulder and spinal cord after the accident," said Haq. But so far no fracture or any other abnormality has been observed in the medical tests conducted on him, he added.
The MQM leader, along with his comrades, was returning from Hyderabad after having meetings within the party ranks, when the pick-up truck he was travelling in overturned near Nooriabad in Jamshoro district.
The vehicle took multiple turns before landing off the road. Some MQM leaders believed that the accident occurred due to some obstacles that were placed on the highway due to ongoing construction work.
It was a miracle that Sattar sustained no serious injuries, believed Haq. However, four others, including his personal secretary and guards, who were travelling in the same vehicle, were injured badly, he said, adding that that they are also in a better condition but may take long for a full recovery because of the severity of their injuries.
Sattar was rushed to AO Clinic in Nazimabad directly from the accident site in MQM- Pakistan second-in-command Amir Khan's vehicle, where he was given preliminary medical aid after which he was shifted to LNH for further treatment.
"A number of tests like a CT scan, MRI and ultrasound were conducted on Sattar but all came clear," informed the hospital's spokesperson Anjum Rizvi. He [Sattar] is still under observation of a panel of doctors, who will monitor him for three to four more days, said Rizvi.
The MQM coordination committee, in a statement, appealed to people to pray for the fast recovery of Sattar and other men who were injured in the accident.
