With China’s collaboration, Pakistan to set up vocational institutes

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, in collaboration with China, will establish state-of-the-art technical and vocational institutes at strategic nodes along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, said the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema.

“China, to boost cooperation with Pakistan in the technical and vocational sector, would establish TVET institutes at Gilgit, Mansehra, D I Khan, Abbottabad, Quetta and Gwadar,” he said.

He said NAVTTC, as an advisory body to the federal government on TVET, had taken vital initiatives to introduce reforms in the current technical and vocational system of Pakistan. “The Commission has initiated some new steps including the establishment of Job Placement Centre and introducing competency-based training throughout the country.”

Cheema urged the two countries to enhance cooperation to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan. “The CPEC would open new vistas of prosperity and development and offer enormous employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan; it is a living reflection of a strong Pak-China bond and would serve geo-strategic interests of both the countries,” he said.

Logic | 8 years ago | Reply A lot of good is happening there. It is great to see the pro-Pakistan unity in Baluchistan and Gilgit this week. Overwhelming. Many experts say CPEC may be even more beneficial than initially thought. I pity the lose-lose line of thinking by Modi. He failed in all adventurism against Pakistan, whether at the borders, Kashmir, NSG, attempts to isolate Pakistan by untimely and unwelcome jibes at international level. Meanwhile India is imploding at many places- the many problems of common man are at the very bottom of BJP's priorities.
