KARACHI: On the advice of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), PIA’s four ATR 42 aircraft have been temporarily grounded to ensure compliance with the latest engine overhaul protocol, said a spokesman of the national flag carrier. “PIA has been overhauling Pratt and Whitney engines of its ATRs as per the overhaul protocol revision 32. Pratt and Whitney has recently issued new revisions 33 and 34 which PIA has been advised to comply with immediate effect,” he said. “As passenger safety is PIA’s top priority the mentioned aircraft will not be available during the next few days. During this period PIA’s flights to Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral, Sukkur, Moenjodaro, Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur, Nawabshah and Multan are likely to be affected and the passengers are requested to recheck the status of their flights to these areas from PIA,” he added.
