Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal made a comeback into the national team after his exhilarating performances for Lahore Whites in the on-going National T20 Cup.

Umar Akmal's smug response to questions on discipline

The 26-year-old was out of contention for a place in the national team due to discipline issues but his recent performances made a strong case for his inclusion in the side for three T20Is against West Indies in the UAE.

Moreover, left-arm pacer Rumman Raees and right-hand middle-order batsman Saad Nasim were also selected in the 15-man squad for the series which will start from September 23.

‘Umar Akmal can return in any of the three formats’

The team was finalised by chief selector Inzamamul Haq after consultations with the Pakistan team head coach Mickey Arthur and the T20I captain Sarfraz Ahmed.

Pakistan will face World T20 champions West Indies in a three-match T20 series which will be followed by as many ODIs. The two teams will then end the tour with three Tests.

Boundaries galore: Umar reminds Pakistan what they’re missing
