The event falls on September 8 and provides an opportunity for physical therapists from across the world to heighten awareness about the crucial contribution their profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.
The ceremony at KMU was organised in collaboration with various physical therapy institutes across the province. Speaking on the occasion, KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Hafizullah – who was the chief guest on the occasion – said a PhD programme in physical therapy will be initiated at IPM&R after the five-year DPT programme and two-year MS Physical Therapy programme.
“With the increasing number of graduates and institutes in the province we should prioritise quality and research,” he said. “All academic and clinical activities of physical therapists should focus on wellbeing [of patients suffering from ailments].” According to Hafizullah, there is a pressing need for physical therapy facilities in K-P.
At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest awarded shields to guest speakers and a walk was also organised to commemorate the occasion.
