Take that, Ellen!: Hollywood’s epic Oscar selfie trumped

Prominent Pakistani artists casually captured in one frame break the internet

KARACHI: Remember when the most epic Oscar selfie of all time broke the internet and went viral globally? The picture of brilliant smiles from some of Hollywood’s brightest stars, including Bradley Cooper, Ellen DeGeneres, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o and Kevin Spacey, is one that we will not be able to forget for years to come.

However, it seems that the celebrities from our part of the world aren’t affraid of giving others some serious competition. Another grand selfie has been doing the rounds online since it was posted on Tuesday. Clicked by none other than Pakistan’s very own rockstar Ali Zafar, the picture features Hadiqa Kiani, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Shehzad Roy and Fahad Mustafa, all in one frame. Even Barney Stinson wouldn’t be able to hold back a big, fat, “Legen – wait for it – dary” after seeing it.

The six stars had gathered for an event organised at the General Head Quarters in Rawalpindi to pay tribute to national martyrs, on occasion of Pakistan’s Defence Day. The musical evening also witnessed the very first collaboration between Aslam and Zafar. Roy, Kiani and Khan also paid heartfelt tributes to the heroes who laid down their lives for the country.
