The DPO informed the district councillors about the strategic initiatives and institutional reforms undertaken in the provincial police department for capacity-building, community engagement and enhanced service delivery during the past two years. PHOTO: REUTERS

PESHAWAR: A special session of Kohat district council was convened on the request of district police to brief the council on law and order situation.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the event was attended by the DPO, district nazim, district councillors and officers of Kohat police.

During the session, the council was provided a comprehensive overview of the security situation in the district. The district council was briefed about the actions taken by the police to curb crime levels. The progress made by the district police under National Action Plan and the recently-enacted provincial counter-terrorism laws were also shared with council members.

The DPO informed the district councillors about the strategic initiatives and institutional reforms undertaken in the provincial police department for capacity-building, community engagement and enhanced service delivery during the past two years.

During the briefing, the DPO also briefed the council members about the salient features and provisions of the recently-enacted K-P Police Ordinance 2016.
