CHITRAL: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday announced not one but several universities for Chitral.

“Chitral has been deprived of facilities all these years, but we promise to change that. The government is currently working on establishing one university in Chitral, which will be followed by several more,” Sharif said. He was addressing the people after reviewing work on development projects launched by the government in the area.

Sharif further said that a 250-bed hospital would be constructed in Chitral. The premier also inspected the Lowari Tunnel which he said would be completed by June, 2017 at a cost of Rs27 billion. The tunnel will serve as all-weather link between Chitral and rest of the country, Radio Pakistan reported.

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, the premier said he did not need to reply to baseless allegations. “May God show these people the right path and give them the ability to join hands with us to serve the country,” he said.
