Promising artists: Students paint cultural diversity

Mural contest at PNCA concludes

Pakistan is a land of diverse cultures which is being reflected by students in their art pieces. Our youth is full of potential and we are proud of them.

This was said by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Director-General, Iftikhar Babar, on Tuesday, said a press release.

He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of a live mural competition on the theme “Pakistan the land of diverse cultures and civilisations.”

Babar also distributed awards and certificates among participants of the competition arranged by the council in connection with the Defence Day celebrations.

Around 110 students from 11 educational institutes including International Islamic University, Iqra University, Fatima Jinnah Women University, University of Punjab, Hazara University, Hunerkada and colleges from the twin cities participated in the competition.

They painted the provinces of their choice and reflected life and culture of its people.

A jury comprising artists Rasheed Khan and Rahat Saeed and supported by the PNCA Director Visual Arts, Musarrat Nahid Imam, selected the best three of the show and two runners up.

The best three were COMSATS, Margalla College F-7/4, Hazara University, while Post Graduate College for Girls 6th Road Rawalpindi and International Islamic University Islamabad were declared runners up.
