SHABQADAR: An attacker was killed while another was injured in retaliatory fire shortly after they shot and injured a tribal elder in Lower Ambar in Mohmand Agency on Tuesday.

An official of the political administration at Ekka Ghund told The Express Tribune Muhammad, a tribal leader, was attacked in Darawo Bazaar by two men on a motorbike on Tuesday morning.

“Both men opened fire on him,” he said. “The elder was critically wounded. A large number of guards and a group of tribespeople ran behind the attackers and opened fire on them.” The deceased was identified as Gulab while the injured has been identified as Arbaz Khan.

“Both men hailed from Dir,” the official said. “They were residing in Naguman, Peshawar.” Gulab’s remains were handed over to his relatives while Arbaz was shifted to the hospital by the administration. Arbaz will remain in their custody. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
