Swift justice: Forced retirement of KMC professor overturned

The tribunal was told that the petitioner was a professor in the anatomy department

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Services Tribunal declared the forced retirement of Khyber Medical College professor null and void on Tuesday. Professor Abdur Rahim Bangash was removed from his service after he allegedly asked one of his female students not to wear a veil.

The tribunal, comprising Azeem Afridi and Pir Bakhsh, was told that the petitioner was a professor in the anatomy department.

The petitioner’s counsel, Asif Yousafzai, said an enquiry was launched to investigate the allegation that led to his removal from service. However, he argued that the case against Professor Bangash did not have any facts as legal requirements were not fulfilled.
