Medical facilities in Balochistan

People from lower income backgrounds cannot afford to get treated at private hospitals

TURBAT: I live in Balochistan, where healthcare facilities are of low quality and people are deprived of the basics like punctual doctors and good hospitals. Poor people face most of these troubles on a daily basis. Many villages do not have hospitals and doctors; if there are doctors, then there are no medicines.

People in the more remote parts of the province see women dying of pregnancy complications because there is a lack of quality treatment. In addition, dengue virus is also prevalent in areas like Turbat. There are many families who cannot afford to go to Quetta, Karachi or other big cities for treatment. People living in rural areas are being neglected by the government. There are poor facilities for patients.

People from lower income backgrounds cannot afford to get treated at private hospitals. Government hospitals are the only hope for poor people but the quality of treatment available in these hospitals leave a lot to be desired.
