Google is officially launching YouTube in Pakistan.

And, the tech giant will be organising an event in Karachi on this account. Initial details suggest the event, aiming to bring together the digital community to engage content creators, marketers, advertisers and brands to build a YouTube community in Pakistan, will be held on September 28.

'Google for publishers': Google's first-ever tech talk in Karachi

“Please save the date, register and join us at Pakistan's first ever YouTube Launch Event for an evening of learning from the top YouTube content creators and brand builders. Discover powerful new opportunities to engage your audience, express your story and invite people to participate with your brand across Google and YouTube,” reads a statement on the event’s page.

The popular video sharing site was banned in September, 2012 after it refused to take down an anti-Islam film. The ban was lifted only after the company launched a local version of the site, allowing Pakistani authorities to remove material deemed offensive.

YouTube now has the unenviable task of grabbing back space relinquished in the Pakistani digital market over the three-and-a-half year ban.

Google to make maiden visit to Pakistani universities

The event is invitation-only and not open to the public. The venue of the event has not been disclosed as of yet and is expected to be unveiled closer to the day.

The announcement comes on the heels of Google’s maiden visit to the country. A Google team is currently in Pakistan and holding sessions at different universities to inspire students who are interested in designing and developing content for the website.
