PESHAWAR: At least 127 illegal connections were found by surveillance teams of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company in various localities of the city. According to a handout issued on Monday, surveillance teams raided different areas of the city to check for illegal connections.

The Pesco teams also checked various premises in New City Home, Peshawar Garden Town and nabbed 53 power pilferers. Moreover, 30 power stealers were also apprehended from Daudzai subdivision and 15 from Cantt in Mardan subdivision. The team has also confiscated a meter which was found to be 33% tampered. Another such meter was also found from an industrial estate.

According to Pesco, the drive against the illegal use of electricity will continue. However, they have urged locals to stop stealing electricity so that there are lesser line losses. Moreover, power pilferage also leads to distribution networks being overloaded and subsequently, power breakdowns.
