In a tweet, Waqar revealed his preferred line-up of contemporary players, which includes three players from Australia and England each, as well as two cricketers from India. However, the former pacer only picked one player from Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh respectively, with New Zealand’s Martin Guptill as the twelfth man.
The 44-year-old selected left-arm bowler Mohammad Amir as the lone representative from the Men in Green.

Waqar Younis opens up about strained relationship with Wasim Akram
Waqar, who was a vocal advocate for Amir’s return to international cricket following the spot-fixing controversy of 2010, oversaw the early stages of the young pacer’s comeback.
Joining Amir in the pace attack are fellow left-armers Mitchell Starc and Mustafizur Rahman.
Other players in the squad include David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Moeen Ali. However, Twitter users were quick to point out notable names which Waqar omitted from his squad.
Waqar Younis has a message for Pakistani cricket fans
One household name which the former coach did not include was of England batsman Joe Root.

I think rohit won't be fitting in this playing XI; root is in fantastic form n he can replace ro-hit.

Joe Root instead of Rohit...!

Others also pointed out how India’s limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was left out as well.

And even though many agreed on the overall outlook of the playing eleven, the inclusion of Sharma was a point of contention, with suggestions of replacing him with New Zealand’s Kane Williamson or South Africa’s Hashim Amla.
