Industrial units: ASSEP for safety managers

LAHORE: American Society of Safety Engineers Pakistan (ASSEP) President Amjad Ali urged the government to appoint safety managers in all newly constructed buildings and industrial units to ensure safety of people especially workers. He was addressing an ASSEP seminar on “Importance of Safety, Health and Environment for the Sustainable Development of Pakistan in perspective of Vision 2025,” held at the Cultural Complex. Ali said the government should implement relevant safety and environment regulations. He also stressed the need for sensitising people about the importance of safety and environment in the buildings and workplace. Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) DG Dr Arshad Zia underscored the need for implementing safety and environment regulations at the construction phase of various structures.
