SNGPL laying pipeline to supply gas, 386.5MW to be added by Aug 2017

The under-construction 1,223-megawatt (MW) Balloki Combined Cycle Power Plant - equipped with an environment-friendly 9-H gas turbine technology - will operate on full capacity by January 2018.
Acting General Manager (Project) Engineer Muhammad Aslam Butt said that the power plant would start by adding 386.5MW electricity to the national grid by August next year.

To a question, he said the plant could be operated both on gas and diesel. However R-LNG (Re-gasified LNG) would be its primary fuel and the plant would generate maximum electricity with minimum fuel consumption due to the fuel-efficient H-9 gas turbine technology - at 61% efficiency.
He mentioned that SNGPL was laying the pipeline to supply RLNG to the plant site and the task would be completed soon.

“Balloki Power Project is an excellent example of deep-rooted Pak-China friendship,” he elaborated. To a query, he said the generated electricity would be transferred from the power plant through 500KV Grid Station being constructed by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC).
Biomass power plant set up with Chinese help
He said that the project started in November 2015 under fast-track power generation policy of the government, and overall 30% work had so far been completed that included 50% civil and 18% electro-mechanical work, while power generation equipment/machines and gas turbines would start reaching the project site by next month.
The Balloki Power Plant is a joint-venture of the Harbin Electric International Company (HEIC) China and Habib Rafique Private Limited Pakistan.
