PDA director says outlets will be rented through open bidding

PESHAWAR: Peshawar will open its gate to the city’s first-ever food street at Hayatabad Town by the end of 2016.

Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has asked interested bidders to submit applications for open bidding to establish food outlets for the public.

PDA Estate and Management Director Shahid Ikram said the food street in Hayatabad Phase-VI will be operational before the beginning of 2017 after the competition of the bidding process.

He said 26 food outlets will be rented to interested bidders to start food outlets of various cuisines.

The outlet will be rented on open bidding system and selected bidders will have to pay premium and monthly rent of the outlet.

Providing further details about the food street, Ikram said only those persons who have a five-year experience of running food outlets and restaurants can participate in the bidding process to rent space in the food street.

The condition of the five-year experience had been set to provide quality food to customers. The PDA has set September 5 as deadline for submitting bids.

The food street will be designed to facilitate customers as proper parking spaces are being established with two main entrance gate of the food street.

Ikram said the aim of establishing the food street was to facilitate and provide quality food to the customers.

”The food street will serve customers from various localities of the city,” he said. “A diverse menu of food items will be available to customers once the food street becomes operational.”
