Police heightens security after Warsak attack

SHABQADAR/ PESHAWAR: A search operation was initiated by law-enforcement agencies in Kas Kor Michni against the suspected facilitators and planner of the attack.

The police conducted the operation after receiving an intelligence tip-off that the attackers of Wapda Colony near Warsak spent the night before the attack in Kas Kor and Aisha Kor in Michni near Kabul River.

A police official who participated in the search operation told The Express Tribune law-enforcement agencies cordoned off areas to search for the facilitators of the attack.

An official privy to the development said the operation was against the facilitators of these attacks. Charsadda DPO Sohail Khalid confirmed that the search operation was conducted. He revealed that the police had foiled the terrorist bid in the district.

Separately, law-enforcement agencies also conducted a search operation in Mohmand Agency after an IED blast killed a khasadar official.

An official of the political administration confirmed that IED planted in Alingar went off and killed an official of the khasadar force. The security forces launched a search operation in the area after a curfew was imposed.

The police have tightened security around churches and missionary schools as a result of the Christian colony attack in Warsak on Friday. Cantt SP Kashif Zulfiqar said the police was directed to increase security for missionary schools and all nine churches in the city.

“We have conducted a security review and increased overall protection for missionary schools and churches,” he added.
