According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s producers recently revealed that new episodes will be available for streaming in 2017.
Another revelation that came on the fore earlier this week was that instead of kicking off with a big event, the highly anticipated season two will build up to its climax at a gradual pace. While the previous edition comprised eight episodes, the new season will have nine episodes.
The show is produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Matt and Ross Duffer, while the screenplay is penned by the Duffer Brothers.
The team behind the drama is now on the lookout for a trio of actors to essay the roles of new characters named Max, Billy and Roman. According to sources, auditions are already underway and executive producer Levy has confirmed that the new season will feature a few new faces.
“There’s definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season,” he said, adding that the additions span a range of ages. “Like the show itself, we’ll have multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones.”
Out of the three new characters, Max and Roman have been billed as regulars on the series. The former is going to be a bold, 13-year-old girl with a tomboyish nature and a history of a difficult relationship with her stepbrother. It hasn’t been specified whether Roman is going to be a male or a female character. It will, however, be someone between the ages of 30 and 38, who has grown up with a drug addict of a mother, suffered a great loss at an early age and therefore, has a rather vindictive nature. The new season will pick up a year later from the first, in the autumn of 1984 and will be shot in Atlanta, Georgia from October till April.
