MINGORA:
A confident Imran Khan on Thursday used his appearance at a tourist resort in the scenic Swat Valley since his PTI’s candidate gave a tough time to the ruling PML-N in the just concluded by-polls in Punjab to slam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.

“There are many in the country who might be familiar with the unscrupulous tactics of the country’s chief executive: a leader who doesn’t care about poor people; a leader who wants to take as much loan as possible without knowing how much it costs the country; and a leader who exploits state institutions to further his own career,” Imran said while inaugurating a cable car service at Malam Jabba’s Ski Resort.

The resort was completely destroyed by the Taliban when they took over the valley during the Musharraf regime and the PTI government has spent Rs350 million to restore it to its old fame.

The PTI leader attacked the prime minister for lacking “any sense of strategic direction or leadership”, leading him to make false statements with the nation. Imran questioned the competence of Sharif’s “muddled” leadership office and said he has been forced to take to the streets after people’s “exasperation” turned into “despair” at the direction of Sharif’s government.

“Rampant corruption has been eating away at the very fabric of the state and has gone unchecked for quite a long time because of poor governance,” he said. Throwing a challenge to Sharif, Imran said, “The level of corruption in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is the lowest when compared with other provinces.”

“When the country’s chief executive himself is stashing his money abroad, it is a hard bet to attract or persuade foreign investors to come and invest in the country,” Imran said while mocking Sharif’s government’s investment policy.

“As against this, the PTI-led government in K-P has been exemplary.” The provincial government has been working towards promoting tourism, the PTI chief said.

“This would generate both revenue and goodwill. Swat is no less than Switzerland. Unfortunately, the valley was ignored in the past,” Imran said while addressing the crowd. He was accompanied by CM Pervaiz Khattak and MPs of the Swat district.
