ISLAMABAD: A technology expert has asked the developing countries to evolve their own national policies to secure their cyber boundaries as well as civil rights.

This was the crux of a lecture on ‘Cyber Security’ given by Hatim Zaghloul, an internationally-acclaimed Egyptian expert in information and cyber technologies, at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here on Thursday.

“Indigenous technology and national policies are a long-term solution to the threats in the cyber world while creating balance in security-related demands and protecting the rights of citizens,” he said.

Every activity of an individual on the internet is prone to monitoring as well as hacking if the work is not protected through encryption tools, Zaghloul further added.

He, however, warned that private enterprises and government departments were equally at risk of hacking. The nature of threats varies in different scenarios.

He said that social media and technology track your every move and if you see someone is attacked the main reason for them being traced is through the aforementioned modes.

Zaghloul said that “people don’t have brains; through the usage of technology their future is manipulated.”
