The wait is finally over as Instagram on Wednesday rolled out the much-awaited feature allowing users to zoom into photos and videos.

“Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on explore. Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt,” Instagram said in a blogpost. However, the feature is currently only available on iOS.

“Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram.”

However, it is still unclear why it took the photo-sharing app half a decade to add a basic feature like zoom.

New Instagram feature makes content disappear after 24 hours

Even though the Facebook-owned application doesn't let you rotate your phone for landscape images, and is limited to a maximum resolution of 1080 pixels considering smartphones have QHD and 4K displays, this feature is a big step towards detail oriented photography.

You can download the app for iOS through the following link.
