Protecting the valleys: Italy promises uplift funds for Chitral  

CHITRAL: Italy has provided funds for the promotion of department of agriculture and revival of tourism in Chitral. This was said by the director of Italian development cooperation, Domenico Bruzzone, during a news conference at Chitral Press Club on Wednesday. Bruzzone added steps will be taken for the protection of the Kalash community and for the development of valleys in Chitral. He maintained his team enquired about the difficulties faced by people due to the dilapidated condition of roads, destruction of bridges and insecure borders. Also present on the occasion was the consultant of Italian embassy, Paola Manfredi, who stressed on the need to protect the cultural heritage of Chitral. She said the people were unaware of its importance which is why they were damaging it to earn some money. An expert on ancient monuments, Maria Victoria, was also among the people who attended the news conference.
