According to a handout issued, both organisations signed an MoU with the district nazim on Wednesday to facilitate the district government in website development, online procurement, recruitment, citizens’ feedback mechanism, LG connect and sharing of day-to-day information with citizens.
A two-day training of LG officials was also conducted at the nazim’s office to provide knowledge about new initiatives. SSDO Executive Director Syed Kausar Abbas and others facilitated the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Abbas said a focal person will facilitate nazim’s office for three months to update their day-to-day data on website. The official website was also under construction and will be launched in September.
Abbas added ICT tools were the best way to eliminate corruption and ensure transparency at public offices. He said the information technology will also facilitate citizens to get daily information and provide feedback regarding performance of LG departments.
Peshawar district nazim Arbab Muhammad Asim endorsed the idea and said he aimed to develop online tools to eliminate corruption from district government offices. He said all public related data, procurement and tender processes will be made through the website that will help ensure transparency and merit.
