Rumours have been rife that Khan and Ranaut will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project. When asked about it, the Queen star said, “Sanjay sir just spoke to me about the film, saying that he wants to make it with me and Shah Rukh sir. But it’s at a very premature stage. It’s not that I am working on it tomorrow or anything like that. So, yeah… like I said, it’s at a very premature stage.”
Up next, Ranaut will be seen in a biopic of Rani Lakshmibai, a character she feels inspired by in many ways. “I think Jhansi Ki Rani is a very relevant film for many reasons, one of which is that it reminds us of the sacrifices and hard work that has been put out by people,” she shared about the upcoming film. “It’s also a reminder to value things much more than we actually do and install that passion and pride for our country, which people once had, even in difficult times.”
Ranaut believes the present generation is lost somewhere and that the example of the Rani – who took up arms against the British back in the War of Independence of 1857 – will make people value freedom. “I identify with her story obviously. She is a very inspirational woman not just for me, but for so many other people,” stated Ranaut.
The actor walked the ramp as the showstopper for designer Tarun Tahiliani at the Lakme Fashion Week on Tuesday night and claimed that she feels fortunate to be part of such grandeur.
“I think I am very fortunate because I get these opportunities. I am an actor and my film characters are usually not very fashion-inspired,” Ranaut confessed. “As an artiste, I don’t know where and how these opportunities just come my way and I get to work with the finest artistes in the country and display their designs and even get to see their collections,” added the National Award winner.
Acccording to Ranaut, these chances help her learn more about fashion and understand it better. “I am an artiste and love to be inspired. If I wasn’t walking the ramp, I would never be exposed to these collections,” she noted. I am so busy that I can’t participate in the whole fashion show but because I work with designers, I get to know so much about them and the fashion industry.”
