Earthquake jolts parts of China, Pakistan

No loss of life or property reported as yet

Earthquake tremors jolted parts of China and Pakistan early Wednesday morning, Express News reported.

Tremors were felt in Islamabad and adjoining areas. According to the Met Department, the earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale and while the focal depth was 10 kilometres, its epicenter was China's Sichuan area.



Following tremors, many evacuated their homes and buildings amid fears of further shocks. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported thus far.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Quetta late last night.

Strong tremors were felt across Lahore and adjoining areas last month. The quake hit many areas, including Nankana Sahib, Kasur, and Sheikhpura, among others.



The quake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale with a focal depth of 10 kilometres according to the MET Department, according to Express News. Following the jolts, residents of the city came out of their houses and buildings in panic.

The earthquake also shook residents in North India, especially Amritsar. According to The Financial Express, tremors were felt in India within hours of an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit Surat district in Gujarat Sunday morning.
