MUMBAI: Energy, exuberance, effervescence and enthusiasm are just some of the words that have become synonymous with Ranveer Singh. In response, the Bollywood heartthrob shares that it is his ‘take it easy’ policy that helps him live each day like it is his last.

“I have an immense love for life. I have a great zeal for life. I have a great lust for life, you could say, and therefore, I live every day like it’s my last and do everything like it’s either the first time I’m doing it or the last time,” Singh said in a recent interview. “I really go after it with everything I’ve got. I try and live in the moment as much as possible and I think, that might very well be the secret of my high energy.”

Unfortunately, Singh’s ability to take over the stage every time he performs live or makes an appearance on a television show has given rise to the perception that he makes a better stage performer, than an actor. This is in spite of him having showcased his versatility in films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Lootera, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Gunday, Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajirao Mastani.

But ever the fun-lover, Singh remains undeterred by such comments. “There are different kinds of performances. You do different characters, you’re a part of different stories and each film-maker has a certain energy that the character requires. Even in life, when you’re interacting with people, you could say that you’re playing a character,” he stated. “When you’re interacting with your mother, you’re playing the son. When you’re interacting with your sister, you’re playing the brother. So performance is there at every level. There are just different modes, different energies,” added the 31-year-old.

Singh’s next big screen outing will be Befikre, the title of which, he claimed, reflects his own personality. “Life in the fast lane can be very stressful. Show business can be very stressful. But I’ve learnt that as an actor and performer, you’re manipulating moods on a daily basis. So, as a general rule of thumb, I like to smile a lot, laugh a lot and joke a lot.”

The vivacious actor went on to share that he likes to create a jovial atmosphere on the sets, whenever he is working. “I think that’s very important and good for health too,” he shared. “I also workout as it gives you a rush of endorphins and that keep you feeling good. I listen to certain kinds of music that keeps me happy. Taking it easy is the best policy.”
