A week after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief had delivered anti-Pakistan remarks, the Interior Ministry sent on Tuesday a reference against Altaf Hussain to the British government for taking necessary action.

According to a statement, the legal reference accompanies evidence against Altaf, i.e. his speech, in which he incited party workers to resort to violence.

'Aug 22 attack on media houses was pre-planned by MQM'

Miscreants launched attacks on several media offices on August 22, followed by a Sindh-wide crackdown against the party.

Subsequently, MQM’s senior leader Farooq Sattar announced to disassociate the affairs of the party from Altaf, saying all political affairs will be run from Karachi.

Since then, more than two dozen offices of MQM reportedly built on government’s land have been demolished while about 200 remain sealed as law enforcement agencies continue crackdown against the party.

The Ministry has requested the British government to take legal action against Altaf as he "tried destabiliing peace in Karachi". “Hussain did not only break British law but also went against international law,” reads the statement.

Kya bat hai! | 8 years ago | Reply The same approach should be followed for hate speeches emanating in Pak. People like HS, SS, MA etc etc. Or their hate speech is OK while that of AH is not OK. Again the same good or bad distinction!

Haji Atiya | 8 years ago | Reply An exercise in futility, nothing will happen. The govt would have more luck if they sent agents to UK and shanghaied him back to a third country like Turkey; something like what Israeli agents did with Adolf Eichmann when he was hiding out in Argentina.

London Banker | 8 years ago | Reply Waiting anxiously for the day when the British government will apply the same standards of justice, that it usually applies to criminals, terrorists and money launderers to Altaf Hussain. Extremely hard to understand how a person like Altaf Hussain has escaped the law here so far.
