Students kill teacher over ‘visa’ money

Victim kept tied up for six days before being choked, dumped in drain.

LAHORE: The police on Thursday alleged that two University of Lahore students had killed their teacher and thrown his body in the Raiwind drain.

The police said Computer Science teacher Muhammad Maalik Khan (27) was killed by his students, Shahid Amin and Abdur Rehman, when he demanded back the money he had paid them to get him a Canadian visa. Khan had reportedly paid his students Rs160,000. Police said they locked him for six days and then choked him to death. His body was found in the drain yesterday.

Khan’s brother-in-law told the police that Khan had called his sister on February 4 to inform her that his money had been returned. He said his mobile had been switched off after that conversation.

SI Iqbal said that Khan’s telephone records had led them to the two students. The two admitted their crime once the police confronted them with the evidence. SI Iqbal said Amin told him that they had lured Khan to his house on Sher Shah Road by telling him that he would get his money back. When Khan arrived they forced him to call his sister and then tied him down. They detained him for several days before deciding on Wednesday to kill him.

The two students, SI Iqbal said, choked their teacher to death and disposed of his body in the drain.
