Jhal Chakian police had arrested Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Dharima village, on charges of selling narcotics.
Police said that they had tortured him during interrogation after which the suspect had fainted. The police had taken him to the DHQ Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The RPO had taken notice of the incident and instructed Sargodha DPO Suhail Chaudhry to take action against the cops responsible for Ghulam Muhammad’s death.
Muhammad Ramazan, a cousin of the deceased had filed a complaint with the police against SHO Zafar Iqbal and Constables Zulfiqar and Imtiaz. Catt DSP Ghulam Abbas said the matter was being investigated on merit.
