Slight relief: Cloudburst brings mercury down

After warm weather during most part of the day, it turned pleasant in the evening

ISLAMABAD: A short spell of rain on Wednesday evening brought down temperature slightly in the twin cities.

After warm and humid weather during most part of the day, it turned pleasant in the evening.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the seasonal low pressure lied over north-western Balochistan and adjoining areas, which caused short intense rain spell and brought temperature in the twin cities down to 33 degrees Celsius from 36 degrees Celsius.

The temperature graph showed that later in the evening, mercury in the twin cities dropped further to 30 degrees Celsius.

It was also reported that during the last 24 hours, rain with thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas divisions and the Fata.

Weather, however, remained hot and humid in most parts of the country during last 24 hours.

The weather monitors forecasted that under the influence of these meteorological conditions during the next 24 hours, the country could receive rain with thunderstorm at scattered places including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Benazirabad and Thatta.
