Speaking to the media, Zakia Bibi, said her former husband had died a few months ago and she was living the life of a widow with four minor children. The woman added that about two months ago, Aurangzeb, a resident of Ghanol village, Balakot, visited her house and asked for her hand in marriage. She agreed to the union and solemnised the nikah according to the provisions of Shariah.
However, her happiness was short lived when she learnt that Aurangzeb already had four wives. Zakia left his home and sent him a message several times, asking for the return of her gold ornaments and cash worth Rs0.8 million. She also asked for a divorce. The complainant said Aurangzeb was neither giving back the property, nor willing to divorce her or return the valuables.
Zakia added he was constantly hurling threats of teaching her a lesson by throwing acid on her face if she dared to ask for her property or a divorce.
