Led by senior party leader Asad Umar, the party’s supporters gathered at Hafta Bazaar ground in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, raising anti-Nawaz slogans.
Imran calls for Karachi-like operation in Lahore
Umar, while addressing the gathering, said: “It seems the ruling party is running away from accountability and making excuses to avoid it.”
Umar said Karachi has had enough of dirty politics, adding that a party that has been voted into the assemblies has failed to deliver on its promises made to the dwellers of the city “but they become rich”.
In his view, Karachi can only be saved if a federalist party sweeps the polls, adding that the PML-N has become a regional party.
Only the PTI, according to Umar, has the potential to resolve the city’s problems. In his anti-graft rhetoric, Umar did not even spare the Pakistan Peoples Party, saying that far from being the symbol of federalism it is now confined to the interior of Sindh.
PTI will soon come into power: Imran Khan
PTI Sindh president Dr Arif Alvi said people from Karachi to Ubauro have been waiting for a call by Imran Khan to join his movement against the government. He said the so-called leaders, who consider politics as their business, are ‘looters’ and ‘should not be considered politicians’.
Party leaders including Imran Ismail, Najeeb Haroon, Faisal Vawda, Dawa Khan Sabir, Khurram Sher Zaman and Zunaira Malik also addressed the people.
