PESHAWAR:

The K-P Police Ordinance 2016 marks a paradigm shift and its implementation in letter and spirit will reap benefits for the public.

This was mentioned in a handout issued by the police on Saturday.

“The provincial government has promulgated the ordinance on August 1,” the document stated. “Under the ordinance, DPOs will be bound to present six-monthly police performance report in the district assembly and take public representatives into confidence.”

According to the handout, they have also been directed to seek guidelines from the members of the district assembly over a network of challenges being faced by police force. As per the handout, the ordinance will ensure professionalism in the police force and guarantee accountability.

“So far, Hangu, Haripur, Shangla, Battagram and Torghar DPOs have briefed their respective district assemblies,” the document stated.
